And what do you suggest?

After playing a few events with the sniper right now I have to say I changed my mind. The sniper is good at what it does. It punishes players that get out of cover/stick out any part of their body.

It is still very hard to play, but it rewards good aiming immensly (looking at valions scores)

But one thing I would like to see is something else than the sniper rifle differentiating the commando droid from normal droids.

Leave them like they are, mayby tune something to make them feel more like snipers and not just droids with 100% accuracy blasters and less ammo.

What exactly do you want to change? To "make them feel more like snipers"

Hmm Give them special things like higher zoom (which doesn't change anything gameplaywise)

Give them things like a night vision/thermal vision.

In tradeoff for that reduce the sniper rifles shooting speed.

About the greater zoom I agree. All kinds of vision it is difficult and not particularly need - we have enough light at night. With such damage, the decreasion of rate can completely destroy the rifle as a weapon.

I tend to disagree, the sniper rifle right now shoots way too fast. Even with half the speed the rifle would probably still be usefull (even tho not as fun). I was talking about a small decrease in shooting speed. If you would half the shooting speed, you would need to compensate by highering the damage so the core body oneshots too.

Will not be. We will have to wait too long to finish off the wounded. It will much easier to take a standard rifle and come closer.

On the other hand, we can make a very powerful but very rare shot. But I think you understand that then the rifle will be a melee weapon.

BNS Sleekphantom
You just do not understand the principle. Or I do not understand you. Why are they bad?

Most definitely you who doesn't understand me.
I did not say they're bad, I said they're good.
All i'm saying is that for me it's extremely simple to use, but for a newbie it would be quite difficult and take a while to get used to.

Also, I find it quite hard to say what points you're trying to bring across.

By the way, is it possible to increase the speed of a bullet?

Missile speed has already been increased for snipers only(290 compared to 200 for all other blasters), however we might raise the missile speed for all blasters in the future.
To half it would put it below part with every other gun.

I guess the true question is, Do we want a sniper that is fast and accurate with less damage or one that can hit like a truck but is slow.

I think the sniper is very strong at the moment.

Sorry I was talking about the time inbetween shots, not the time the shot flies :)

I think the sniper is very strong at the moment.

It is the strongets weapon on middle range, the weakest weapon on short range and useless on long range.

It is quite effective at long range, but only on flat terrain.  Many Jedi were killed by bullets at point blank range.  :) But zoom and speed of the bullet could be higher.

Incidentally, in the sniper duel Droid has the advantage. Because he is dark dystrophic.  :)

Right now the Sniper rifle is doing good. The only problem I can see is the ammo count on big maps.

A change that I just came up with:

You know the Crossbow animation to reload it? Why not make the same system for the sniper where you have reload for a short time like repeating it. In this time you cannot move (making snipers even worse at short range) and greatly increases the time inbetween sniper shots. This would nerf the sniper hard enough to enable a huge speed buff on the shot. (like 400-500)
That way the Sniper would feel more Sniper-ish.

The current Sniper rifle could be kept as a really accurate Blaster.
For example as the Commando Weapon. Switching (x) between the current firemode for close range and when on the shoulder you put on the sniper enhancement. This would even be historically accurate since the DC-17 has an Interchangable Weapon System.

With moving targets it can make the rifle is uselees. Rather, it would be the ultimate melee weapon. Point the barrel in the face of the enemy and pull the trigger. :)
I think now it is a normal weapon. A cross between a sniper rifle and an infantry carbine. For those who prefer a rare but accurate shots.

By the way, the damage depends on the distance to the target?
