The 2017. Christmas Giveaway!

Four years ago the Christmas giveaway tradition started, and here we are yet again with a giveaway bigger and better than ever. Thanks to awesome contributions from Jordan, Marko and Owen you are able to try your luck and win something from the 82 games presented this year. If you aren't a BNS member and want to participate, you can do so by contributing in your own games into the giveaway pool(before the whole thing is locked though!) and you'll be able to win some as well. I wish you all good luck and a joyful Christmas!

My advice is to take a good look at the games listed, many of these are hidden indie gems.

Greetings, everyone. What follows will not be your usual development blog with new update progress and screenshots, it's a very important announcement in regards to mod development.

After more than two years of being the head developer of Star Wars: Bear Force II, the time for me to part ways has come. It has been a great pleasure, and an honour to work on this mod and with its amazing community. Time however, takes its toll as with everything in life and it's time for me to move on. The entire team has worked hard over the years to make our vision come true, we've learned and progressed a lot. You'll be hearing from us soon in regards to our new standalone project, we're not going anywhere!

However, this isn't the end of the road for the mod and the community! A new lead developer in whom I carry deep trust is taking over. Most of you familiar with the community surely have crossed ways with Mark, who will now be at the helm of the mod's development, together with EmielRegis - a new coder. They'll have a new strength and vigour to carry on with the mod development in a vision of their own, which I assure you is no less impressive than what we've accomplished so far. Mark and his new crew will soon provide a full blog to introduce themselves and the plans for the mod's future and direction.

I would like to once again thank the entire community, all the developers, contributors and all those who helped this mod reach the very top of what is considered modding games. It's hard to find the right words to express what an experience all of this was and what it meant. But, that's life, and the show must go on.

Regards,

Marko

Saturday Conquest

Day: Every Saturday
Time: 8 GMT
Server: 501stCTL_Official_EU
Factions: Republic, Separatists, Empire, Rebels

The standardized unit size for any clan is a squad. Aside from being the most effective unit proven by years of effectiveness, in order to use any specialists a squad must be a minimum of 6 men.

Rules:
1. The events will be based on completely modular squad loadouts, which means all the squads are going to have the same base(regular infantry) and completely custom specialist classes as they see fit.
2. A squad is considered at a minimum of 6 men.
3. Your squad has the unlimited use of:
 • Medic packs.
 • Shotguns
 • Shields
 • Any weapon that an infantry class wields(except light or heavy machine guns, that's considered a specialist)
E.g. if you have a squad of 6+ men, let's assume you want to take the maximum of 2 specialist units. That means the other 4 standard infantrymen can be equipped with any infantry weapon they have available + medic packs, shotguns or shields.
4. You can combine a maximum of 2 specialist classes for your squad. How you combine them is completely up to you, whether you take 2 heavies, 2 snipers or 1 sniper, 1 grenadier, 1 commando...it's up to you.
List of specialist roles:
 • Snipers - Clone Sharpshooter(Republic)/BX Commando Droid(CIS)/Stormtrooper Sharpshooter(Empire)/Rebel Sharpshooter(Rebels)
 • Heavy Troopers - Clone Heavy(Republic)/B2 Battle Droid(CIS)/Stormtrooper equipped with a DLT-19 LMG, Heavy MG or grenade launcher(Empire)/Rebel Infantryman equipped with an RT-97C, Heavy MG or grenade launcher LMG(Rebels)
 • Wookiee(Republic), Geonosian(CIS)
5. Every team will be assigned 2-4 Jedi/Sith(depending on the number of players), and the administrators will assign the Jedi/Sith to the clans.
5.a Jedi or Sith can take any combination of forces, lightsabers and outfits they wish.
6. Every team will be assigned 4-10 Jets(Depending on the total number of players in the server), and the administrators will assign the Jets to the clans.
7. Since the module has been balanced with counterpart stats, use of any weapon is allowed(as long as it's within your assigned class), except LMGs and HMGs for Infantrymen on Empire and Rebels(as referenced in rule 3 and 4).
8. Ramboing is allowed, and you may use any formation you see fit. Your formation of choice may influence your round win or loss.
9. Event is played on two maps with 800 tickets each.
10. You are forbidden and will be slain for using the following glitches: Headglitching(successively crouching and shooting), wallglitching(looking through walls with your head), shield glitching(using a shield and pistol combo, or firing behind another person's shield while you yourself is untouchable) or trying to avoid any game mechanics.

Notes: The event administrators might warn you for taking too many specialists.

Public/Lone players:
1. You can play any class you wish except the Jedi/Sith and Jet classes unless assigned so.
2. Same common sense rules, no teamkilling, teamhitting et cetera.

0.7 will be released on Thursday, 23rd February at 18:00 GMT. Continue reading the article for screenshots, details and changelog of the 0.7 version.

The Goal
As we've stated with 0.6 release, our further plan is to keep providing quality support for the module in terms of reworking and polishing existing features, fixing bugs and enhancing the current scenes/maps we have. Of course, like always we've added lots of new stuff but the focus has definetly been on refinement and polish.

New Features
Incredible new map by Exima; Tatooine - Rancor Pit! The Rancor Pit is a small new map, the first in our new policy of expanding small battle, team deathmatch and deathmatch maps available in the mod. It's an extremely beautiful map with lots of recognizable details we're sure you'll enjoy. Let's take a look!
Spoiler for Tatooine - Rancor Pit:

Yes, that's an actual gameplay screenshot!

Next up are new races we've added, the Rodians, Twi'Leks and Mon Calamari. In addition to this, all races will now be available for all rebel troops, allowing you to make your soldier even more unique on the battlefield!

Spoiler for New Races:

We've also added a universal camouflage for Stormtroopers now, which will now no longer suffer from their white armour in forest/desert environment. In future updates, we'll add snow rebels and some other variations as well.

Spoiler for Stormtrooper Camo:

We've started looking after some of the animations as well, in this update you'll recieve this new pistol aiming animation which fits into a shooter much better than the old, 'flintlock' animation.

Spoiler for Pistol Animation:

A new resource for sceners/mappers was also added, containing the props from the iconic clone trooper training facility, no doubt there will be fantastic new maps and training maps using that. A new soundtrack will also be present in 0.7, we'll preview that somewhat later.

WEEK 2 PICK NIGHT

Welcome to the fourth pick night everyone, we begin at 8:30pm GMT. Every team(when it's their turn) will have two minutes to pick their opponent.
For the rules on picking, refer here:
Quote
Picking order is prioritised as follows:
 • Teams with zero points that were in the BFL the previous week.
 • Teams that have joined the BFL in the current week.
 • Teams yet to pick with the lowest number of points
*Should teams have an equal number of points, then the team with the higher rounds won is given priority. Should teams have the same amount of  rounds won, the team with a higher round difference is given priority. Should that fail, they will be randomized for the pick order.
*Teams may not pick a team they played against in the previous week or a team more than one level above them, unless there is no other alternative.
*If a team misses their pick or makes an in-valid pick, their pick is randomized from any of the next 3 teams in the picking order that lost their latest match or are new to the ladder. Failing that, the pick is taken from the next team in the picking order that lost their last match or is new to the ladder. Failing that, the pick is randomized from any of the next 3 teams in the picking order.
If a team only has two teams to choose from and one of the teams sat out the previous week, they must pick that team.
If the league has an odd number of teams, the team that has first pick will be awarded a default win.
